Hi there, Jake here! Coming at cha with another edition of Today I Learned. This week we have WWE Main Event from September 20th, 2016 and WWE Superstars from October 7th, 2016. One is supposed to be the Raw undercard and the other the Smackdown undercard. Except, last week they had Raw Replays on both shows, let’s see if any of that changes.

Today I Learned… on Superstars ep. 391

Darren Young w/ Bob Backlund vs. Jinder Mahal

*Shanti is what Jinder Mahal keeps saying during his entrance.

*I was thinking it was Ashanti

*Bob Backlund doesn’t seem to be much of a manager. He just stands on the outside and screams, not even advice or anything.

*Tom Phillips says Jinder Mahal does a Raw Exclusive video on Twitter about Ashanti.. or Shanti.

*Darren Young has added the backdrop onto the apron in his every match repertoire. It’s weird because, it works, but it has nothing to do with the ribs or shoulder. The ribs are the primary target in Darren’s finisher the Gutcheck and the shoulder is the target in Darren’s primary submission the Crossface Chickenwing.

*Darren wins and Corey says that Bob Backlund’s teachings is better than that of the Far East.

Neville vs. ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ Curtis Axel

*Man, how shitty of a gimmick and nickname is Mr. Irrelevant? Like, his dad was Mr. Perfect.. yeesh. You can’t ever make a world champion out of the name Mr. Irrelevant.

*Dueling “Let’s Go Neville/ Let’s Go Axel” chants start the match, in something that surprises me.

*Axel decides that the best way to take down a high-flyer is to work over their arm. Neville is still able to flip out of the arm work of Curtis’.

*I feel like we need an interview with Neville about how he has to decide to be the ultimate underdog in the heavyweight division or the top dog in the cruiserweight division.

*Corey Graves seems to have a soft spot for his former NXT Tag Team Champion teammate.

*I forgot what Axel’s finisher is, but Neville kicked out of what Tom Phillips called Axel’s finisher and Curtis basically lost the match after that.

*This is a Superstar’s match and Axel let Neville kick out of his ‘finisher’.. I don’t know if that is sad or special.

Today I Learned… On Main Event ep. 208

Rich Swann vs. Lince Dorado

*So Raw isn’t exclusive to having the Cruiserweight division.

*I don’t know what show the Smackdown show is supposed to be anymore. Tom Phillips is on both Main Event and Superstars. Otunga is on Main Event, but so are the cruiserweights…?

*Tom says the cruiserweights are exclusively on Raw.. He says this as he commentates for the show Main Event.

*Tom brings up that Swann eliminated Dorado in the CWC.

*The crowd is chanting for Swann during the cruiserweight Test of Strength. Swann ends up dancing instead of testing the strength of him and Dorado.. Then Dorado got caught up in the ropes as he fell to the outside.

*This match seems eerily familiar. Like, they are doing a lot of the same spots they did in their tag match on Raw/

*David Otunga randomly drops the tidbit that he trained with TJ Perkins.

*Again Tom says “this type of action can ONLY be seen on Monday Night Raw.” Mr. Phillips.. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?

*No one really knows what either man’s finisher is, so the nearfalls work VERY well with the audience, as well as myself.

*Otunga tells us “he can clearly dunk a basketball” when referring to Swann.

*Swann wins with his apparent finisher.. The bridging pin?

Breezango vs. Heath Slater and Rhyno

*Breezeango are rocking the puffy shirts again.

*Fandango and Heath start off and “Let’s Go Slater” fills the arena, the WWE fans are 100% behind Heath fighting for his kids.

*With Rhyno running for office and Heath trying to provide for his kids.. Can their team be called The Rent is too Damn High Team?

*Breeze is making Heath play catch up ball when Fandango threw Slater to the ropes and Breeze held the middle rope down, so Heath fell to the outside.

*If you win a match on Main Event, does anyone hear about it on Smackdown?

*Slater was hit with a supermodel kick and a falcon arrow combo and almost lost the match.. Tom said that Breezango would possibly get a title opportunity. There is a storyline here somewhere, I’m sure of it.

*This match was pretty much 50/50 all the way through until Breeze got gored.
