Hi there, Jake here! It’s time for NXT. This will be the 359th episode of NXT. This episode is following last week, where NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura made his dramatic return destroying not only Samoa Joe but most of NXT security as well. We are still in the trenches when it comes to the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and the woman’s division is starting to take shape after the purge of talent to the main roster this summer.

Today I Learned… NXT Episode 359 October 19th, 2016

The show starts with a video package of the last few weeks. Where Joe injured Nakamura then took apart some of the new talent on the NXT roster. Joe kept demanding Regal brings him Nakamura or the NXT Championship. Nakamura ended up coming out and making Joe back down.

Rich Swann and No Way Jose vs. Drew Gulak and Tony Nese

*The theme songs back to back say “can you handle this?” and “No Way Jose” basically begging the NXT Universe to start chanting. This team is fun though.

*Some lady in the crowd screams bloody murder every time heels or Nakamura come out. I am not sure how I feel about it, but it is noticeable.. Like NXT’s distinctive laugh guy.

*”Can You Handle This? No Way Jose” chant breaks out as Swann and Gulak start the match off.

*It’s nice to hear appreciative reactions to Swann and Gulak’s wrestling. Raw crowds sometimes make the cruiserweights seem less than special.

*Jose and Nese trading stalling suplexes is something I didn’t know I would like as much as I did.

*Distinctive Scream Girl tried to warn Swann about an impending Nese kick but it’s hard to tell what she is screaming when it’s just a scream. Like how Lassie tries to warn Timmy.

*Jose out muscled both Nese and Gulak’s double suplex attempt. Dude really seems out of the cruiserweights league.

*No Way Jose and Rich Swann face the Authors of Pain next.

Corey Graves and Tom Phillips told us something about Hideo Itami, which we already knew.

They also tell us about Tye Dillinger and show us this.

*Roode and Dillinger are both Canadian.. I wonder who will get cheered.

Bobby Roode vs. Sean Maluta

*Bobby Rood has a robe that has a robe on it.. It is sparkly and glorious. Corey Graves says it costs $30,000.

*Maluta has a long way to go, in the opening moments you can see Roode guiding Maluta in the chain wrestling.

*The whole match, the commentary team hype the Tye Dillinger/Bobby Roode match. Poor Maluta.

*Bobby Roode still hits one of the best spinebusters in the business.

*After Bobby’s win he cuts a promo about how he is going to ‘takeover’ Toronto.

*Dillinger came out to fight Roode, the crowd was “ten”ing everything. It’s like saying “Yes” to every attack except they say “ten” it’s pretty crazy.

Liv Morgan was talking in the back and Billie and Peyton beat her up. They beat her up so bad they went from the backstage to the stage. Billie and Peyton put Asuka and the rest of the division on notice and said that the NXT Woman’s Division belongs to them.

Austin Aries and Roderick Strong vs. Otis Dozovic and Tucker Knight

*This build up was to Austin’s mystery opponent. It’s former ROH World Champion Roderick Strong.

*Strong’s reaction wasn’t so… strong. Even distinctive scream girl barely screamed.. A small “Roddy” chant though.

*Otis and Tucker combined are 650 lbs. That gives the Authors of Pain a run for their money.

*Otis and Tucker have many weight based double team moves. One being a bodyslam hold by Tucker and Otis mushes the opponent between the two behemoths.

*It’s weird that Tucker got the hot tag, when Austin and Roddy really make it hard to look dominant. It’s hard to sympathize with men who are twice the size as Aries and Strong.

*Strong is still able to fireman’s carry Tucker into a knee’s to the guy and follow that with a Sick Kick for the win, that final bit looked real good.

Andrade Almas has a backstage vignette where he speaks Spanish for 90% of the interview. He had an interrpreter with him. Basically he only cares for himself.

Nikki Cross w/SAnitY vs. Danielle Kamela

*Nikki legit was chewing gum and kicking ass..

*The crowd is still semi-unresponsive. It’s hard to gauge what the NXT Universe thinks of this group.

*Nikki was in control of the match and started clawing at her own face and biting her self.

*Nikki hit a spinning fisherman suplex and won the match.. Then Eric Young whispered into her ear, that lead to Nikki beating down Kamela.

*Nikki then clocked Eric for stopping the beatdown.. The referee decided to reverse his decision because SAnitY couldn’t control her.

Shinsuke Nakamura address’ NXT

*Distinctive scream girl screams right before Nak’s theme song kicks in and it makes the song better I believe.

*Shinsuke starts off by saying he is not done with Samoa Joe.

*Patrick Clark came out with a very slap bassy 80’s tune. Then cuts a promo that says “we are gathered here to day, to get to this thing called NXT:Takeover Toronto.” Much like’ Let’s Go Crazy’ from Prince.

*Patrick calls himself “The Velveteen Dream, The Patrick Clark Experience” So he also has some Jimi Hendrix tied into him. I like this Patrick Clark experience.

*Nakamura knocked out Clark in a matter of three moves.. Joe came out and backed away once Nakamura locked eyes with the Samoan Submission Machine. A “you deserve it” chant directed at Clark. Which was pretty creative, like Buddy Rogers’ “To a nicer guy, it couldn’t happen” but in chant form.

No Way Jose and Rich Swann def. Drew Gulak and Tony Nese

Bobby Roode def. Sean Maluta

Austin Aries and Roderick Strong def. Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic

Danielle Kamela def. Nikki Cross
